Applied Engineering Software Group turns to EUROCOM Panther 5SE Mobile Server for its X79 chipset in a laptop

The Mobile Server is an all in one organization that results in a meaty 12 lbs, xvi.76 x 11.44 x 2.31 inch mobile server solution. Information technology is designed for world-wide deployment and easy network set up up. Information technology is piece of cake to ship, move effectually and relocate as information technology can fit into a unmarried carrying bag because of its all-in-one, compact pattern.

The EUROCOM Panther 5SE is a 12 lbs system that evolved from high-end notebook and workstation designs.  In addition to all the standard notebook features, the Panther 5SE offers the following server oriented features:

  • • 12 core Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 – LGA 2022 – X79 Chipset
  • • Up to 32 GB DDR3-1600 memory via 4x 8 GB retentiveness modules
  • • Four storage drives for up to vi TB in RAID 0/1/v/10
  • • Gigabyte Ethernet with an selection for quad port GbE
  • • Built in UPS for upward to 1 hr of backup ability via Swappable Polymer Li-Ion battery

Eurocom Mobile Servers back up a variety of server course operating systems such as Windows 2022, 2008 R2, VMware ESXi, Ruby Chapeau Enterprise Server Edition 6.iv and Linux. With the plethora of server class components actress virtualization capability is a given, allowing college performance, extremely stable virtualization on one platform. The Panther 5SE allows for network virtualization, multi tenancy and storage resource pooling.

AESGI Deployment

Practical Engineering Software Group was initially attracted to the EUROCOM Panther 5SE due to its power to handle a server course Intel Xeon processor.  They are sometimes, running anywhere between 50 to 100 virtual machines and require the ability to model complex network problems.

Gregory Carter owns and operates Applied Technology Software Group, AESGI, in Wisconsin.  AESGI manages storage, network and server operations for 3rd-party contractors for a variety of companies, primarily in the Internet access provider, telecommunications and logistics and supply industry.  Secondarily, AESGI, deals with enterprise operations and analytic measurement and problem resolution in the aforementioned areas.  A lot of their time is spent tracking down problems and redesigning issues of information center operations or cloud computing operations that are non working optimally.

Before the Panther 5SE Mobile Server, AESGI used to booty around a desktop form system in excess of 80 pounds to and from client sites.  The problems didn't end at that place, sometimes but plugging in the desktop machine would pull 600 watts and trip a UPS besides.  The Panther 5SE, on the other hand, simply nibbles around 130 watts.

Gregory Carter eloquently explains his company's utilization of engineering in helping AESGI ameliorate efficiency and capability through applied science.

The analytic, software development, infrastructure direction work I do on the server, storage and network problems many of my customers accept requires simulation study. And then, I used to booty around a desktop class system and run many of my own tool sets for identifying customer problems on that auto. It became a pain to haul around 80 pounds of gear.  Sometimes it was a trouble at a client site to fit the gear in a customer facility if it had to stay on site overnight, it was merely too big.

When I saw an X79 class chipset in a laptop that could run a XEON class server processor, I decided to have a await at the Panther 5SE.  I found the car could run all of the tool sets I employ, just as well as the desktop server machine I would haul effectually.

So a lot of my time is spent on tracking downwardly problems or redesign problems of data center operations or your typical cloud computing operations that are non working that well. Sometimes a client will get frustrated considering of a vendor deadlock to resolve the issues, so they hire me to come in and look at a problem as a neutral political party. I then redesign the software, add together software or debug the software to identify the trouble so that the vendor, customer or I tin fix/resolve it.  So the typical projects for the company tend to exist fairly diverse both large and small in the types of server, storage and networking and or software problems I accept to bargain with.

Features of the EUROCOM Panther 5SE that particularly assist AESGI:

The bonus of class, all the gear was reduced in weight to nearly 15 pounds. Hefty for sure for a laptop, but not quite 80 pounds. Furthermore it could fit on my lap in a pinch.

In poorly designed data centers, sometimes plugging in the larger desktop machine would pull 600 Watts, and trip a UPS over besides. The Panther 5SE nibbles at around 130 Watts of power at max load, 300 watts with both bricks if I install a top finish XEON, and load the drive trophy.

And then with that much power under the hood in such a compact grade factor solutions for customers problems and my own problems of dealing with business continuity can exist demonstrated on site, not merely on a whiteboard but for real due to the Panther 5SE.

That builds trust and confidence in many of the engineering solutions I have created with the Panther 5SE.  My customers also see that I not merely advise a solution for them to employ, simply I use it myself besides.

The ability for the machine to handle a server class XEON processor is disquisitional. I have sometimes anywhere between l-100 virtual machines running at a fourth dimension for the really nasty customer bug I have come beyond. Deject computing problems are a matter of network scale by and large in my line of work and you have to model the gist of the problem, equally small equally you lot can. I could not do some of the more complex modeling required on high-powered laptop processors, the network callback/syscall's just coffin the laptops rather bloodless chipset.

What is critical is the power to run a command line on the hypervisor while modeling some of these problems. With notebook processors and chipsets, sometimes the load would non permit a command line beat out from functioning.

On a mean solar day-to-solar day footing information technology is my primary machine I use and work on for software development using Eclipse to write Android/Mobile software and doing audits on the configuration and builds of some of the YUM automation repo'due south I have for many of my LINUX/HPUX/Solaris/BSD/Windows physical/virtual machines. The configured build of my Panther 5SE uses an AMD brandish card and runs the KDE desktop very nicely.

I as well use it for Email/Web browsing. Nothing like using a server class machine to get your weather and e-mail!
